After I received my Master’s Degree in Visual Arts from Strasbourg University I decided to travel to the other side of the world and visit Australia. This drawing is of my friend with a local farmer sitting around the fire in the bush on our very first night in Australia. I remember feeling very overwhelmed and rather intimidated that day. But our host was generous and reassuring and he introduced us to some of his neighbors – real salt of the earth hard-working people. Of course they couldn’t help sniggering a bit at us ‘animal lover girls’ grilling only vegetables on the fire.
That day we had seen blue tongue lizards and wallabies in the wild. It was the first day of an amazing adventure that ended up taking me places I never thought I could go.
Australia’s pretty great! I’m part Australian, so I visit often. Enjoy all the time you get to spend there–and remember that most of the animals you meet could potentially kill you ;)
Hey! Thanks for your comment! Which part of Australia are you from? This particular scene was in WA. I know, being from Northern Europe where we barely have any mosquitoes Australian bush can be pretty scary! Fortunately I haven’t come across any funnel-web spiders yet, phew!
My family is from WA! Weird.
Haha, that’s awesome :)
